Bridgton Hospital Named to Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for Overall Performance

The National Rural Health Association (NRHA) recently named Bridgton Hospital a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital (CAH) in the country. Bridgton Hospital scored best among critical access hospitals based on iVantage Health Analytics' Hospital Strength Index for Overall Performance and is ranked in the Top 20 out of 1,300+ rural and Critical Access Hospitals throughout the United States.

"We are so proud of our providers and staff who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation. We have told our communities for years we provide 'Quality care, close to home'. Clearly, being in the Top 20 out of more than 1,300 other Critical Access Hospitals should give our community strong indication of that commitment." said David Frum, President & CEO of Bridgton Hospital.

The Top 20 Critical Access Hospital "winners" are those hospitals who have achieved success in the overall performance based on a composite rating from nine indices of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, population risk, cost, charge, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives, and financial stability. This group was selected from iVantage's Top 100 CAH list, released earlier this year.

Bridgton Hospital is the only critical access hospital in the state of Maine to receive this designation, putting them in the 99th percentile of all critical access hospitals in the United States.

An awards ceremony will be held during NRHA's Critical Access Hospital Conference in September in Kansas City, Mo.

"NRHA is committed to ensuring our members have the best information to manage their hospitals," said Brock Slabach, NRHA membership services senior vice president. "And we're pleased to recognize the accomplishments of these rural hospitals."
