Bridgton Hospital Offers A Broad Spectrum of General Surgeries

The doctors who practice with Bridgton General Surgery and Bridgton Obstetrics-Gynecology perform both conventional "open" procedures and minimally invasive procedures, known as laparoscopic surgery.
Most surgical services offered at Bridgton Hospital are done on a day surgery basis, meaning that patients do not have to stay overnight.

General surgeons manage a broad spectrum of surgical conditions affecting many areas of the body. They diagnose patients and provide preoperative, operative, and postoperative care. Also, they are familiar with most congenital, infectious and metabolic problems, and often provide care for those with cancer. (Physicians from Central Maine Gastroenterology and Bridgton Internal Medicine also provide diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies and gastroscopies.)

Our general surgeons use a variety of diagnostic techniques, including endoscopy, to evaluate and diagnose conditions. If a condition requires specialized care, the surgeon will refer patients to specialists. We have many specialists who practice at Bridgton Hospital. Also, as part of the Central Maine Medical Family, Bridgton Hospital has access to many medical care resources.
